President Donald Trump’s latest ethics filing shows his accounts bought Strategy Inc. (MSTR) stock in late July, including a purchase dated July 24 — the same week Strategy was selling equity, pausing bitcoin buys, and trading near the lows of the year.

The Office of Government Ethics posted the Periodic Transaction Report (OGE Form 278-T) on September 22. The 37-page form lists 1,156 securities transactions from July. Buried in that list are three Strategy Class A lines:

  • July 8: sale, $1,001–$15,000

  • July 24: purchase, $1,001–$15,000

  • July 27: purchase, $50,001–$100,000

This is not the first time the accounts have shown Strategy stock. The May 278-T covering January through March listed eight Strategy Class A trades, buys and sells. The largest buy then was February 12, $50,001–$100,000. The largest sale was January 12, $15,001–$50,000.

June went the other way. The August 22 filing showed two Strategy sales on June 23 and June 24 and no purchases that month. Combined, those June sales were $16,002–$65,000.

The July 24 and July 27 purchases are new trades from a later window. They were not in those earlier filings. They add to a position that was already on the books.

MSTR has risen about 83% since July 24. The larger new ticket is the July 27 buy, in the $50,001–$100,000 band — the same size as the biggest Strategy purchase already disclosed.

The form does not say how many shares remain. Amounts are ranges. A 278-T reports each trade over $1,000. It does not give a remaining position.

The White House says the stock-and-bond book is not traded by the president. A spokesperson told reporters the holdings sit in discretionary accounts run by third-party firms and that some of the activity tracks model portfolios designed to follow recognized indexes. The disclosure still carries Trump’s name because he is the beneficiary.

The dates sit inside a rough stretch for Strategy. In July the company was not adding bitcoin. Holdings stayed at 843,775 BTC through the weeks of July 13–19 and July 20–26 while Strategy sold common stock under its ATM and built its USD reserve. MSTR had fallen from the high 180s in May toward the low 80s in early July. The stock has since recovered as bitcoin moved back toward the mid-$80,000s and Strategy resumed buying. As of the September 21 8-K, Strategy holds 846,000 BTC at an aggregate cost of $63.80 billion.

Trump Media is a separate line. That company already sits among the largest public bitcoin holders, with a controlled stack on the order of 12,000 BTC. The new 278-T is personal-account activity in Strategy equity, not a Trump Media treasury filing.

Crypto names were a thin slice of the July report. The full 1,156 trades were valued at roughly $79 million to $270 million. The largest tickets were July 20 sales of Microsoft and Amazon, each $5 million–$25 million. Strategy is small next to that, but it is the largest public bitcoin treasury company, and the July 24 print is now on the official record.

The accounts have bought Strategy before. They have sold it before. This filing adds two more buys after a month of sales — and those buys landed near the stock’s 2026 low.
