Strategy Buys 4,603 Bitcoin After 10-Week Pause and Continues STRC Buybacks

Strategy Inc. has resumed bitcoin purchases after a 10-week pause, buying 4,603 BTC for $369.7 million while continuing to repurchase its STRC preferred stock and holding more than $6.7 billion in designated dollar liquidity.
In an 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on August 31, 2026, the company reported activity for the week of August 24 through August 30. The bitcoin purchases were funded with proceeds from at-the-market sales of Class A common stock. Strategy sold 4,531,421 MSTR shares for net proceeds of $602.8 million and used that capital four ways: $369.7 million to buy bitcoin, $151.8 million to repurchase STRC, $50.7 million to fund STRC dividends, and $30.0 million to increase its USD Cash account.

The new coins were acquired at an average price of $80,318, inclusive of fees and expenses. Holdings rose to 845,050 BTC as of August 30, with an aggregate purchase price of $63.73 billion and an average cost of $75,412 per bitcoin. The company continues to hold roughly 4% of the total bitcoin supply.
The purchase is Strategy’s first reported bitcoin buy since June 22, when it added 520 BTC. In the weeks that followed it sold coins under its BTC monetization program, then reported no purchases or sales for several consecutive weekly filings while it built the USD Reserve and launched USD Cash. Last week’s 8-K, covering August 17–23, showed holdings still flat at 840,447 BTC.
Strategy also kept buying back Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock. It retired 1,557,177 STRC shares for $151.8 million during the week. After those purchases, $364.8 million remains authorized under the Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program announced June 29. The separate $1.0 billion MSTR common-stock repurchase authorization is still fully unused. No STRF, STRK, STRD, or MSTR shares were repurchased in the period.

Dollar balances were little changed at the restricted reserve and slightly higher in the flexible cash pool. As of August 30, the USD Reserve stood at $5.10 billion and USD Cash at $1.61 billion, including expected proceeds from ATM shares that had not yet settled. Combined, Strategy reported $6.71 billion of designated dollar assets. In its accompanying post, the company said net leverage is 0.0%.
The USD Reserve policy is unchanged. That pool remains restricted to supporting preferred-stock dividends and interest on outstanding indebtedness, with a board-mandated minimum equal to at least 12 months of those obligations. USD Cash is the more flexible layer created last week: a separately designated pool that management may deploy for general Bitcoin Treasury Company purposes, including acquiring bitcoin, paying preferred dividends and debt interest, repurchasing MSTR or preferred stock, repaying or redeeming convertible notes, increasing the USD Reserve, and similar uses.
Strategy said the latest actions further strengthen STRC. USD Duration moved to 4.0 years, up 23 days, and STRC’s BTC Credit tightened by 3 basis points to 56 basis points under the company’s modeling assumptions, which include 10% bitcoin ARR, 40% bitcoin volatility, and a bitcoin price of $77,558.
“Strategy has acquired 4,603 BTC for $370M, increased USD Cash by $29M, and repurchased $152M of $STRC. As of 8/30/26, we hold 845,050 bitcoin and $6.71B of USD Assets, bringing Net Leverage to 0.0%,” the company said.
No preferred stock was sold under the ATM during the week. Remaining issuance capacity is still large: $19.09 billion of MSTR, $17.51 billion of STRC, $4.01 billion of STRD, $2.10 billion of STRK, and $1.62 billion of STRF. The Digital Credit Capital Framework adopted in late June formalized the reserve policy, the preferred and common repurchase programs, and a limited BTC monetization program. This week’s filing shows that framework now being used in both directions: equity issued to buy bitcoin again, while STRC continues to be retired and the dollar stack is kept intact.
